Cable Operations Manager

Overview

As a Cable Operations Manager in PCCW Global, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of subsea cable systems. This role involves coordinating maintenance schedules, coordinate repair operations, and ensuring optimal performance and longevity of subsea cable infrastructure. 

The Subsea Cable O&M Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams, including NOC, consortium members, marine operations, landing parties, technical support, and management.

 

Responsibilities

1. Maintenance and Repairs:

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance plans to optimize the performance and longevity of subsea cables.
  • Coordinate and follow up with NOC, maintenance authorities, engineers and other stakeholders to plan and execute operations during repair activities.

2.Fault Resolution and Troubleshooting:

  • Collaborate with NOC teams, suppliers, to troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting cable performance 
  • Participate in emergency response activities to address critical issues and implement rapid solutions such as traffic restoration

3. Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, troubleshooting procedures, and system configurations.

4. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marine operations, project management, and external vendors.
  • Communicate effectively with management, stakeholders, providing updates on maintenance activities, issue resolution, and system performance.

5. Vendor and Contractor Management:

  • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to procure necessary equipment and services.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and components.

6. Budget Management:

  • Manage budgets for subsea cable operations and maintenance activities.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in the operations and maintenance of subsea cable systems.
  • Strong understanding of submarine cable technologies, including fibre optics and power systems.
  • Proficient in using monitoring tools and diagnostic equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with regulations and protocols in the marine and subsea industry.
