Service Engineer

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive IT Infrastructure Support Specialist with expertise in Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Virtual Machines, and Storage management. The successful candidate will support and maintain core infrastructure systems, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across the organisation’s IT environment

Key Responsibilities:

Microsoft 365 & Active Directory (AD):

• Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Intune.
• Manage on-premises and Azure Active Directory, including user provisioning, group policies, authentication, and directory synchronisation (Azure AD Connect).
• Implement and manage identity and access policies, including MFA and Conditional Access.
• Troubleshoot issues related to M365 applications, Azure AD, and hybrid identity environments.

Virtual Machines (VM):

• Deploy, configure, and manage virtual machines in on-premises environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and/or cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS).
• Monitor and optimise VM performance, availability, and capacity.
• Perform regular backups, patch management, and disaster recovery testing for VM infrastructure.

Storage:

• Manage enterprise storage systems (SAN/NAS/Cloud Storage), including provisioning, allocation, and performance monitoring.
• Ensure data integrity, availability, and security across all storage platforms.
• Assist with backup and restore operations, including integration with VMs and file systems.

General Support and Operations:

• Respond to and resolve escalated service desk tickets related to M365, AD, VM, and storage.
• Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on IT projects, migrations, and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with IT security policies and industry best practices. 

Qualifications and Skills:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• 3+ years of experience in Microsoft 365 and Active Directory administration.
• Hands-on experience managing virtual machines (VMware, Hyper-V, or Azure).
• Solid understanding of storage systems and backup solutions.
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with monitoring tools and system performance tuning.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred:

• Experience with hybrid environments (on-prem and cloud).
• Familiarity with Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Manager.
• Knowledge of storage technologies such as NetApp, Dell EMC, or similar.
• Experience with Azure IaaS services and Azure Resource Manager (ARM).
• Microsoft or VMware certifications (e.g., MS-100, AZ-104, VCP, etc.).
