Engineer, Video Transmission Network, Satellite Engineering

The engineer shall possess certain knowledge, skills and working experience in Video Transmission Network and its connection interfaces, e.g. TV broadcasting network, satellite, data transmission, cloud related technologies and solutions for global service needs.

The job position will be located at Stanley Earth Station, the largest teleport in Hong Kong.

Job Description

• Install, commission, test and implement video network equipment and service rollout in HK teleports or PoPs;

• Conduct technical trial, evaluation, provisioning and implementation for video transmission via fiber or satellite networks;

• Support, attend and implement network activities including but not limited to normal and ad-hoc restoration and normalization works;

• Support operation teams for ad-hoc broadcasting events or conduct standby duty during typhoon periods as required;

• Provide technical and service support to the Network Operations Centres or Global Service Operations Centre when required; 

• Provide technical, service and operational support including Emergency Call-Out (ECO) when required; and

• Hands-on experience in video compression systems e.g. HEVC, H.264 is an advantage.

Required Qualifications

• Degree/High Diploma or equivalent qualification in Electronics, Telecommunications, IP/Information Technology, or related disciplines;

• Over 3 years of working experience with satellite teleports, telecom operators or vendors etc.;

• Knowledge and working experience in video network and services of its interfaces, including TV/video and data transmission or satellite, Ethernet Technologies and protocols; 

• Hands-on experience in using testers and cabling works;

• Team player with initiative, eager to learn and deliver, and good communication skills;

• May require working at irregular hours when needed; and 

• Possession of valid driving license is definitely an advantage.
