Data Centre Operator

Job Summary:
The Data Center Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the data center facilities. This role ensures the continuous operation of servers, network equipment, and other critical infrastructure within the data center environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and manage the performance of data center systems, including servers, networking devices, and security infrastructure.
• Perform routine checks and maintenance on data center equipment to ensure optimal operation, including checking system hardware for issues, updating software, and managing backups.
• Respond to and troubleshoot issues, providing first-level support and escalating complex problems to senior staff or specialists.
• Ensure the physical security of the data center by managing access controls and monitoring security systems.
• Record and maintain detailed logs of all operational incidents and resolutions.
• Assist in the implementation of new systems and the decommissioning of old systems within the data center.
• Work with IT teams to ensure compliance with data management and security policies.
• Participate in disaster recovery drills and contribute to the updating of disaster recovery plans.
• Maintain a clean and hazard-free environment in the data center to prevent equipment failures and downtime.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Associate or HD in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Data Center Operator or similar role.
• Strong understanding of computer hardware, networking systems, and software applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively.
• Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends, as data centers operate 24/7.
