Assistant Vice President, Group Communications
HKT is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking corporate communications and public affairs professional to join our Group Communications team. This pivotal role will be responsible for shaping and amplifying the Group’s narratives, enhancing our reputation as a trusted technology solutions enabler, and supporting business objectives through strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and effective crisis management.

Your role
- Identify, monitor, and analyze local, regional, and global policy, regulatory, and macroeconomic developments that impact the Group’s interests and reputation through desk research and provide timely public affairs-focused updates and analysis to senior management.
- Support senior management in external engagements, including the drafting of speeches, presentations, articles, talking points, policy papers, and media responses, ensuring consistency and alignment with corporate messaging.
- Craft compelling narratives that highlight the Group’s contributions to society, industry, and the communities we serve, leveraging insights from research and stakeholder feedback.
- Develop public affairs-focused thought leadership content for owned, earned, and digital platforms to effectively engage stakeholders.
- Handle crisis and issue management, working closely with business units to anticipate, mitigate, and manage reputation risks—including drafting lines-to-take, press materials, and internal communications.
- Build, nurture, and leverage sustainable relationships with external stakeholders, including media, public sector leaders, and relevant industry associations and bodies.
To succeed this role
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public affairs, or crisis management, preferably within large organizations, the public sector, or PR agencies.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both Chinese and English, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated expertise in corporate communications and public affairs, with a strong track record in crisis and reputation management.
- Advanced skills in synthesizing complex legislative, regulatory, and geopolitical developments, and translating research takeaways into clear, strategic narratives that support the company’s objectives.
- Proven ability to multitask, remain composed under pressure, and adapt quickly in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of the public affairs landscape in Hong Kong and Mainland China, with awareness of global and international dynamics impacting the business environment.
- Strong experience in conducting research from multiple sources, providing nuanced analysis that reflects public affairs sentiment, stakeholder perspectives, and media reporting.
- Hands-on experience in developing executive messaging, speaking points, and engaging social media content for senior management and public-facing initiatives.
- Highly collaborative, self-driven, and adept at building relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Strategic thinker with a passion for continuous learning, innovation, and excellence in communications and public affairs.
