AVP, Cable Planning & Consortium Management

Role Overview:
This role is responsible for leading the end-to-end management of submarine cable projects, from strategic consortium participation and project implementation to financial oversight and legal coordination. The position plays a pivotal role in ensuring the company’s strategic and commercial interests are achieved across various international submarine cable systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consortium Leadership:
Represent the company in international submarine cable consortia, actively participating and leading key subcommittees such as the Procurement Group (PG) and Investment and Agreement Subcommittee (IASC) to align with and advance the company’s strategic objectives.
- Project Implementation:
Manage the full lifecycle of submarine cable projects—from tender phase through to acceptance—ensuring timely delivery and adherence to technical and commercial requirements.
- Commercial Negotiations:
Lead negotiations with system suppliers to secure competitive commercial terms, drive cost efficiencies, and improve overall unit costs for the organization.
- Engineering and Operations Oversight:
Direct engineering, project execution, and operations, including the development and communication of comprehensive project budgets for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Budget Planning and Execution:
Plan, communicate, and manage budget-aligned upgrade initiatives for subsea cable systems to support evolving capacity and infrastructure requirements.
- Financial Coordination:
Liaise with internal finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and timely updates on the financial health and forecasting of submarine cable projects.
- Business Case Development:
Support the preparation of detailed business cases for new cable investments to secure executive-level approvals and align with corporate strategy.
- Legal Support and Agreement Drafting:
Work closely with the Legal team to draft, review, and negotiate key industry agreements, including Construction and Maintenance Agreements (C&MA) and Landing Party Agreements.
- Billing and Payment Management:
Ensure predictable billing and payment cycles by implementing effective long-term and detailed budgeting processes.
- Cost Management:
Lead comprehensive budget planning and cost control for submarine cable projects and ongoing operations, ensuring optimal financial performance.
- Project Governance:
Oversee all aspects of project execution, ensuring delivery within approved timelines, scope, and budgets.
- Data and Cost Monitoring:
Develop and maintain centralized databases to track capacity entitlements, operational expenses, and maintenance costs across the company’s submarine cable assets.
