Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firewall Administrator to join our network team. This role involves maintaining, configuring, and optimizing firewall systems to protect our digital assets and network infrastructure from unauthorized access and cyber threats. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of network security principles, firewall technologies, threat mitigation strategies, and experience with LDAP and Cisco ISE. This position is exclusively open to US citizens.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Firewall Management: Configure, maintain, and manage firewall hardware and software to ensure network security. Implement necessary rule changes, updates, and upgrades.

  • Security Monitoring: Monitor network traffic for suspicious activities and potential threats using intrusion detection systems (IDS) and intrusion prevention systems (IPS).

  • Policy Development: Develop and maintain firewall security policies and procedures, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Troubleshooting: Provide high-level troubleshooting support for firewall-related issues, including connectivity problems, performance tuning, and security breaches.

  • LDAP and Cisco ISE Integration: Manage LDAP services for user authentication and authorization, and maintain Cisco ISE for network access control and policy enforcement.

  • Incident Response: Participate in the incident response team to investigate and resolve security incidents, implementing corrective measures to prevent future incidents.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with network staff and other departments to ensure a secure network environment, providing expert advice on network security issues.

  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of firewall configurations, policies, procedures, LDAP integrations, and Cisco ISE setups. Document incident reports and resolution steps.

  • Training: Conduct training sessions for network staff on firewall management, LDAP, Cisco ISE usage, and security best practices.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory standards regarding information security and data protection.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in network security, specifically in firewall administration and with LDAP and Cisco ISE.

  • Proficiency in various firewall technologies (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point).

  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, VLANs, VPNs, routing, and switching).

  • Experience with security protocols and methodologies, including IDS/IPS, DMZ configurations, and encryption technologies.

  • Familiarity with compliance standards and frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

  • Relevant professional certifications (CISSP, CISA, CCNP Security, PCNSE) are preferred.
