SAFe Release Train Engineer (RTE)

Role Overview

The SAFe Release Train Engineer is an agile professional and servant leader, supporting an Agile Release Train (ART) in PCCW Global’s SAFe environment.

 

They are a pragmatic, outcome-oriented and empathetic problem solver who embodies and encourages Agile values and principles, and supports the execution of SAFe Planning Increments at ART level.

Responsibilities

  • Support and coach up to two ARTs
  • Facilitate ART level agile activities and SAFe ceremonies
  • Ensure the Scaled Agile Framework, IT standards and procedures are effectively implemented at ART level
  • Drive the resolution of impediments with support from the ART Trifecta, Business Owners and Team Coaches
  • Accurately maintain the ART's data in Jira
  • Represent the ART to Agile Program Management Office (APMO) and similar
  • Provide transparency to Portfolio leadership and escalate issues and concerns as appropriate
  • As a servant leader, apply coaching principles and practices to support the ART and their achievement of PI Objectives
  • Support the ART's preparation for and execution of PI Planning
  • Participate in agile communities of practice and develop agile skillset
  • Model agile mindset, values and principles within the ART
  • Drive and support continuous improvement within the ART
  • Mentor the ART’s Team Coaches
  • Possess and actively develop excellent communication skills and a comprehensive agile toolkit
  • Capably support teams and individuals as a servant leader
  • Build consensus in a self-organising team and support psychological safety
  • Practice and support Radical Candour, minimise multitasking and context switching in teams and support outcome-focus
  • Resolve conflicts with support from the ART Trifecta and Team Coaches
  • Support other RTEs and Team Coaches in their coaching


Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Certified Scrum Master or equivalent SAFe credentials
  • Demonstrable experience as an RTE, senior Agile Coach or similar in a professional role
  • Demonstrable understanding of the role, responsibilities and value of an RTE
  • Demonstrably excellent English communication skills

Highly Valued

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a software or telecommunications field
  • SAFe RTE / SPC certification
  • Significant experience as an RTE in a SAFe environment
  • Significant experience as an agile coach and/or agile trainer
  • Leadership experience in a professional capacity
