Lead Engineer, Global Internet Services

We are in search of a hands-on Lead Engineer for our Global Internet Services (GIA) Team, tasked with overseeing a suite of advanced services that operate atop our Tier 1 IP backbone and IPv4/IPv6 network infrastructure. This critical role involves direct management and optimization of services such as DDoS mitigation, security protocols, VoIP routing, internet transit, and premium routing solutions. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in IP networking, with practical experience in deploying and managing services within MPLS L3 VPN environments. A CCIE certification, while highly regarded, is secondary to demonstrable hands-on experience and expertise in these areas. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

● Service Deployment and Management: Directly configure and manage GIA services, ensuring seamless integration and performance over our IPv4/IPv6 networks. 

● DDoS Mitigation Leadership: Take a hands-on approach to develop and implement comprehensive DDoS mitigation strategies, actively enhancing network and service resilience. 

● Security Services Optimization: Configure and fine-tune security services, ensuring robust protection for network and data traffic. 

● Transit Solutions: Directly manage and optimize routing and internet transit services to guarantee high-quality communication and data transfer. ● Premium Routing Management: Implement and oversee premium routing solutions, providing tailored service paths for critical network traffic. ● MPLS L3 VPN Integration: Utilize hands-on skills to segregate and manage services within MPLS L3 VPNs, ensuring secure and efficient service delivery. ● Troubleshooting and Resolution: Lead in diagnosing and resolving service-related issues, applying in-depth technical knowledge for swift and effective problem-solving. 

● Team Leadership and Mentorship: Lead and mentor the engineering team, offering escalation support and fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

● Customer and Vendor Engagement: Directly interact with customers to understand their needs and manage vendor relationships to uphold service standards and innovation. 

● Innovation and Service Development: Drive the development of new IP services, identifying opportunities for innovation and ensuring alignment with industry trends and customer demands. 

● Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all IP services comply with relevant regulations and industry standards, maintaining the highest levels of integrity and professionalism. 

 

Qualifications 

● Demonstrable hands-on experience in managing and optimizing IP-based services, including but not limited to DDoS mitigation, security services, VoIP routing, and premium routing solutions. 

● Practical knowledge of deploying services over MPLS L3 VPNs within IPv4/IPv6 network environments. 

● Strong problem-solving skills, with a proven track record of hands-on troubleshooting and issue resolution. 

● Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively sharing knowledge and leading technical discussions within the team and the broader industry. ● Leadership experience, with a focus on hands-on mentorship and team development.
