About the role We are now looking for a professional to join our Regional Business Strategy and Insights department for Viu, a leading pan-regional OTT video service with presence across Asia, the Middle East, and South Africa.
As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable data infrastructure that powers data-driven decision-making across our OTT streaming platform. You will design and optimize data pipelines, ensure high-quality and reliable datasets, and enable advanced analytics, machine learning, and reporting use cases across Marketing, Product, and Content teams.
You will work closely with Data Scientists, Analysts, and Engineering teams to support the full lifecycle of data products from data ingestion and transformation to enabling model deployment and productionisation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with large-scale data systems, solving complex data challenges, and supporting high-impact business initiatives in a fast-paced consumer tech environment.

Key Responsibilities
● Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming large volumes of data.
● Develop and manage data models, data warehouses, and data marts to support analytics and machine learning use cases.
● Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability through robust validation, monitoring, and governance practices.
● Collaborate with Data Scientists and Analysts to enable efficient feature engineering and model development workflows.
● Optimise data infrastructure and workflows for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
● Support deployment and operationalisation of machine learning models by building and maintaining data pipelines and feature stores.
● Work with cross-functional teams (Product, CRM, Engineering) to integrate data solutions into business processes and applications. 

● Implement and manage orchestration workflows (e.g., scheduling, dependency management, monitoring).

What You'll Need to Succeed
● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
● 2+ years of experience in Data Engineering/Science or related roles.
● Strong proficiency in SQL and Python for data processing and pipeline development.
● Hands-on experience with distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark).
● Experience with modern data platforms and warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks).
● Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data architecture principles.
● Experience building and managing data pipelines using orchestration tools (e.g. Databricks).
● Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and data infrastructure best practices.
● Understanding of data governance, data quality, and monitoring frameworks.
● Exposure to supporting machine learning workflows (feature stores, data pipelines for models) is a plus.
● Domain experience in digital media, OTT, e-commerce, or MarTech environments is preferred.
