Technical Head, Digital

ViuTV is seeking an experienced, passionate and dynamic Technical Head to own and drive the strategy, on-going development, and technical operations of our entire suite of consumer-facing digital platforms, including our Website, Mobile Apps (iOS/Android), and Smart TV applications. As Technical Head, you will be the ultimate technology owner for our digital ecosystem, focused on:

Your Role:

1. Architecture & Platform Ownership

• Own the end-to-end architecture across Web, Mobile, Smart TV, and backend services.
• Improve platform performance, scalability, resilience, and code quality.
• Set and enforce engineering standards (CI/CD, secure-by-design, release governance).

2. Platforms Improvements

• Partner with Product to balance new features and technical debt with clear priorities.
• Plan resourcing and drive predictable delivery across multiple workstreams.
• Manage dependencies and risks across internal teams and vendors.

3. Reliability & Cybersecurity

• Raise operational maturity (monitoring, alerting, on-call, incident management).
• Own platform security and lead vulnerability management and incident response.
• Ensure the platform can handle peak traffic and high availability requirements.

4. People Leadership & Mentorship

• Build and lead a strong engineering team.
• Create a culture of ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.

5. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Act as the key technical partner to internal stakeholders.
• Govern vendor delivery and ensure clean, well-documented integrations (APIs).

To Succeed in this Role:

Technical & Leadership Foundation

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role owning production, consumer-facing digital platforms with stringent high-availability demands.
• Expert understanding of Cloud Architecture (preferably AWS): Networking, security controls, observability tools, and high-scale patterns. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/CDK).
• Mandatory Security Expertise: Hands-on experience implementing security practices, secure design reviews, access control, secrets management, and leading incident response.
• Strong experience with APIs (REST, GraphQL a plus), databases (SQL/NoSQL, knowledge in MongoDB is a plus), caching (Redis, CDN).
• Proven ability to work effectively with business stakeholders and manage complex delivery through a mix of internal teams and external vendors.

Highly Desired Experience

• Prior experience in the Media, Streaming, or Ad Tech domain.
• Experience with peak event operations (e.g., live streaming, online voting/polling systems).
• Strong interest in exploring how AI can improve development productivity (e.g., coding, testing, documentation, and operations).
• Knowledge of Mobile (iOS/Android) and/or Smart TV application architecture and release processes.
• Experience with Serverless and/or container orchestration platforms.
