Senior System Specialist

.Your role:

• Responsible for deployment, configuration, and support of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Operating System for a HKSAR government sector customer.
• Non-Supervisory position, reporting to infrastructure team supervisor.
• Non-Shift Duty Role, but out of office hour support is expected.

To succeed in this role:

• Diploma or above in IT discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of solid hands-on experience in RHEL server support, including installation, configuration, OS hardening, OS patching and troubleshooting of RHEL 8 servers in an environment with over 100 physical or virtualised RHEL instances.
• Additionally, minimum of 5 years of solid experience in one or more of the following domains:
  • SAN Environment (Brocade SAN Switch and HDS VSP Series Storage) OR;
  • Virtualization Platform (VMware vSphere) OR;
  • Centralised Patch Management Software (OpenText Server Automation).
• Holder of following certificates are a plus
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer OR;
  • LPIC Level 2 OR;
  • VMware VCP-DCV.
• Proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Desirable Criteria

• Come from an IT System Integration company background;
• Have worked in either implementation or maintenance phase supporting RHEL Operating System in a HKSAR Government IT Maintenance project (but not in a purely supervisory role overseeing the work of the SI vendor);
• Familiar with ITIL Processes such as Incident Management and Change Management; and
• Familiar with using ticketing systems such as BMC Remedy, OpenText SMAX to facilitate ITIL Processes.
