DevOps Lead

Role Summary (DevOps Lead)

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on DevOps & Platform leader to lead, build, and mentor a high-performing team of DevOps and Platform Engineers. You will be responsible for the strategic direction, architecture, and operational excellence of our private cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and internal developer platform. This role requires a unique blend of technical depth, leadership acumen, and business understanding to accelerate engineer velocity, ensure platform reliability, and manage resource utilization effectively.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Team Management (30%)
Define and execute the 1-3 year technology roadmap for the DevOps and Platform function, aligning with business objectives.
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability.
Manage team resources, project priorities, and for resources spend and tooling.

2. Platform Architecture & Engineering (30%)
Architect, implement, and govern our  infrastructure with a focus on scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.
Drive the adoption of containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift) as the standard runtime.
Evaluate and integrate new technologies and tools to enhance our platform capabilities.

3. Operational Excellence & SRE (30%)
Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of production systems. Define and manage Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Error Budgets.
Implement and manage advanced observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog) for comprehensive monitoring, logging, and tracing.
Establish and run blameless post-mortems and continuous improvement processes.

4. Governance, Security & Cost Optimization (20%)
Enforce security and compliance policies across the platform (e.g., vulnerability management, secrets management with HashiCorp Vault).
Establish and maintain platform standards, documentation, and disaster recovery procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years in DevOps, SRE, or Platform Engineering roles, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or management position.
Proven experience managing and scaling a technical team, with strong mentoring and people management skills.
Strong background in containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
Experience building and maintaining observability and monitoring solutions.
Excellent understanding of networking, security best practices, and scripting (Python, Go, or Shell).

Highly Desirable:
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure Solutions Architect, CKA/CKS).
Experience in a Platform Engineering role, building and managing internal developer platforms.
Experience in a fast-paced, financial services, or highly regulated environment.
